•The first stop in Austria will be at the Hauswirth chocolate factory, which is one of the largest confectionery manufacturers in Austria. You will learn about the production of chocolate and you can also purchase chocolate products. They produce hollow chocolate figurines of St. Nicholas, angels and Easter bunnies. (There will be no visit to the Hauswirth chocolate factory on 01/05/2024)
•In the afternoon, you will visit the flooded Seegrotte gypsum mine, where you will cruise on the largest underground lake in Europe. An aircraft factory was built underground and one of the world’s first jetfighters, the “Heinkel He 162 Salamander”, was built here.
•Drive to Laxenburg to visit Franzesburg Water Castle, which Emperor Franz II had this imitation medieval castle built on an artificial island in the middle of the castle lake. Laxenburg Castle Park is a Natura 2000 inventory. Franzesburg is associated with Empress Sissi, who spent honey weeks here with Emperor Franz Joseph. Laxenburg is a place where you can relax – take a walk in the park, take a train or boat ride on the lake.
